I was at my local B&M picking up some cigars and pipe tobacco, when I decided to do a little window shopping. I was checking out the Peterson 2009 St Patrick's Day pipes ...which are really cool. When I decided to ask if they had any of last years green ones.
The saleswoman produced their last one, and showed me this brown discolored spot on one side of the bowl. She bought one last year and she said that her personal pipe had also discolored. She believes that light, natural or otherwise is causing this problem. Has anyone bought one of these pipes and experienced this problem. I personally would love to have one of the 2008 St Patrick's Day green pipes, but not if it's going to turn an ugly brown.
Cheers,

I almost got one last year, but didn't end up buying it. I haven't heard of the color issue, I am intrigued tho.

I have a St. Patricks Day 2008, shape 150, strait Bulldog. Good smoker, the lucite bit is a little uncomfortable to clinch. This is the first I've heard of discoloration, and that explains the small brown spot on the shank. the big issue is blistering of the finish on the lower right side. I do tend to get'um hot but this is ridiculous. I have had someone who seems to know what he's talking about tell me there might be a stone concealed in the briar. I have smoked it a lot and the only discoloring so far is what I described above. Good pipe, if the price is right, retail is about $95.00. Good luck.
