Got this one as a close out special from Iwan Ries. I'd heard a lot of mostly good things about Peterson so I said why not. It came with the Peterson P-lip mouth piece. Some love this type of bit and some hate them. I can say that I don't care much for a P-lip even though it does cut down on tongue bite. It however cuts way down on flavor.

Another thing about this pipe, and one of the bad things I'd heard about Peterson, when it was finished they must have just dipped the whole pipe into the stain as the inside of the bowl was also stained. This gave a horrible flavor to tobacco and it just wouldn't go away. I finally did 2 salt/alcohol treatments and that took care of the problem.

Otherwise it is a nice pipe, but far from my favorite.

You may not be sunk with that P-lip. (I have several of them and don't mind them a bit.) Check out the Peterson website http://www.peterson.ie/ and see if you can get a fishtail bit for the pipe. As far as the stain goes, yep on a few of their lines they just dunk stain the pipes. I usually just get a piece of dowel that fits about right and wrap a strip of sandpaper around it and go to town on the chamber. I have just smoked the stain out of the chamber on a few of them. It really doesn't take as long as you would think.

Anyway, you still have a Nice batch of pipes there.
